Dear members and friends of St David’s UC Oakleigh

I have just been advised that Ken Wenborn passed away this morning.

Ken has been in care at Monash Gardens Aged Care for several years and, over recent times, has struggled to recognise members.

He would have turned 97 at the end of April so a good life well lived.

He was the remaining member of our OBEs from a few years ago and appreciated the Clayton folk coming to help set up for our Fashion Parades and Market Days.

Ken was a keen member of the Choir and participated in the Concerts – often taking on a comic role including The Green Door – we never did manage to find out what was behind it!!!  He was pleased when his granddaughter joined in the Concert Troupe one year.  He continued with the Pleasant Sunday Afternoons when the Concerts became too much for the Choir.

Monday nights would see Ken playing Table Tennis in the Hall.  Unfortunately one night when stretching out to hit the ball he fell breaking his hip.  He bounced back after surgery and still played.   Very hard to keep a good man down.

Funeral details are still to be finalised but it may be in Glen Waverley next week.  I will send a further email when details are known.

Ken’s daughter Robyn advised me.  Please keep Robyn and the extended family in your prayers.

Blessings

Faye Sanderson
